Regulations

st Article: Investigaciones de Historia Económica is the journal of the Spanish Association of Economic History. It is published three times a year.

nd Article: Investigaciones de Historia Económica is interested in publishing all kinds of original, high-quality articles on Economic History. Articles on the History of Economic Thought are also welcome. Prior to publication all articles are double-blind peer reviewed.

rd Article: The Board of Patrons of Investigaciones de Historia Económica consists of the members of the Board of the Spanish Association of Economic History, as elected by the members of the association, together with the Editor of Investigaciones de Historia Económica. The Board of Patrons is chaired by the President of the Spanish Association of Economic History.

th Article: The Board of Patrons of Investigaciones de Historia Económica will appoint four of its members to be part of the journal’s Advisory Board, which will then establish the scientific policies of the journal, the lines of research to be promoted, and the guidelines for contributors.

th Article: The Board of Patrons chooses the Editor of Investigaciones de Historia Económica by an absolute majority.

th Article: The Board of Patrons of Investigaciones de Historia Económica may dismiss the Editor of the journal when the qualified majority of two-thirds of its members (attending and absent) consider that the Editor is not accomplishing his tasks adequately.

th Article: The Editorial Board will consist of the Editor, two Assistant Editors, an Assistant Editor for Latin America, a Book Review Editor, a Secretary, a Vice-Secretary and seven Associate Editors. The Editor will propose to the Board of Patrons the appointment of the three Assistant Editors, the Book Review Editor, the Secretary and the Vice-Secretary. The Editor will also propose to the Board of Patrons the names of researchers who could become Associate Editors of the Editorial Board. The Board of Patrons will appoint the seven Associate Editors, one of which will be the Director of the AEHE Working Papers.

th Article: The Editor, the two Assistant Editors, the Book Review Editor, the Secretary and the Vice-Secretary will have a three-year term of office, renewable only once. The Assistant Editor for Latin America must belong to one of the Economic History Associations of that area, and is to be appointed for two years. If the Editor were to resign before the end of his/her term, the rest of the Editorial Board appointed by him/her would also be relieved. The six elective Associate Editors will have a four-year term of office, also renewable only once. In any event, the Board of Patrons may only renew the appointment of two of the elective members. The replacement of any member of the Editorial Board will be made by the Board of Patrons as established in the 7th Article. The new member will occupy the position for the rest of the term.

th Article: The Advisory Board will consist of fifteen members of wide renown, especially in the Spanish-speaking academic world. Four of its members are to belong to the Board of Patrons. A third of the Advisory Board will be renewed every two years, and the renovation may be complete if agreed by the Board of Patrons. In both cases, the Editor and the Editorial Board will propose the candidates –ten if only a third of the Advisory Board is being renewed, or thirty if the renovation is complete– to the Board of Patrons. The Board of Patrons may add or replace some names. After that, it will choose five or fifteen members –depending on the type of renovation– to be part of the Advisory Board. In any case, there will always be four members of the Board of Patrons in the Advisory Board, and not less than five of its members will be foreign. Each appointment must be approved by an absolute majority of the members of the Board of Patrons.

th Article: Investigaciones de Historia Económica is funded by the Spanish Association of Economic History, which distributes it free to all its paid-up members. The Spanish Association of Economic History will try to obtain subsidies from public and/or private institutions to pay for part or all of the editing costs of the journal. These sponsors will be listed as sponsoring bodies in a visible place in the journal but not on the front cover. These subsidies may consist of donations or institutional supportive subscriptions.

th Article: The AEHE Board will contract an editorial company for the editing and distributing of Investigaciones de Historia Económica. This company will be allowed to sell the part of the print run not bought by the Association, and also to advertise in the journal under the conditions established by the AEHE Board.

th Article: The headquarters of Investigaciones de Historia Económica will be decided by the Editor on taking charge of the journal. The institution in which the journal is edited will be listed as the editing centre in a visible place in the journal but not on the front cover.
